AWG ERIF Test Case 8: Orion Water Landing Model

Description: Water landing is the loading design case for a sub-structure of the Orion spacecraft. An ALE approach is used to simulate the water impact. Concern over relying on un-verified analysis and the significant sensitivity to input parameters led to a water drop test program at NASA Engineering Safety Center (NESC) to validate LS-DYNA® simulations. This test case is derived from this investigation.
